For the past year and nine months, I’ve had the honour of travelling throughout South Eastern Ontario and writing stories about the brilliant variety adventures and experiences here. So far, we’ve explored The Great Waterway by car, on foot and upon the waves of the mighty St. Lawrence River. [Read more…]
Brace yourselves. Maple season is coming.
Time to break out the stretchy pants, rally the squad and set out for the sugarbush! For this particular post, I thought I would keep things short and sweet. Pun intended.
Maple season is a huge deal here in The Great Waterway. There are two main regional events that celebrate the sweet sappy nectar: Maple Weekend with the Ontario Maple Syrup Producers Association and of course, Maple in the County where Prince Edward County maple producers and wineries participate in an immense celebration.
Of course, the celebration and unanimous enjoyment of maple syrup, and maple-related goodies are much bigger than that. To help you in your quest for the liquid gold – we’ve compiled this handy-dandy Google Map: 2018 Maple Syrup Season!
So, go forth! Discover your #local maple producers! Eat pancakes, and be merry!

While the picturesque snow-laden landscapes of South Eastern Ontario are absolutely beautiful, winter in the big city can be a cold, hectic and rather messy ordeal. Whether it’s getting slushed at the bus stop, traversing icy sidewalks, or the seemingly endless shovelling – winter can be a cruel beast indeed. [Read more…]
One of my fondest holiday memories, is sinking my teeth into a freshly baked piece of my Grandmama’s shortbread. Confession time: I love food. There. It feels better getting that out in the open. Then again, who doesn’t? Here in South Eastern Ontario, there is an incredible selection of places to eat from casual settings to fine dining venues that are fit for royalty. [Read more…]
As the wind grows ever colder, and the days shorter – there is an awakening of sorts in our collective psyche. For as long as recorded history, human beings have seemingly shared a common observation as summer turns to fall – and the long dark quickens its approach. [Read more…]
