Whether it be a celebration, a cheat day, or even just for fun, we all have a sweet tooth that sometimes (all the time) needs satisfying. In South Eastern Ontario, there are some hidden gems you may or may not have heard about! Let’s keep this short and sweet to put those cravings to a stop.
1. Glazed and Confused
Don’t feel guilty, eat as many doughnuts as you want. With around 10-12 flavours of decadent doughnuts, Glazed and Confused makes it hard to choose just one! We recommend the Chocolate Chip Score. Also, Led Zepplin rules.
2. Queen of the Kitchen
Did someone say truffles? Queen of the Kitchen is focused on providing high-quality chocolate truffles made from the finest Belgian chocolate and many all natural flavours. With a variety of flavours in dark, milk and white chocolate there is something for everyone!
3. O’Mally Kourt Fudgery
If you have an above average sweet tooth then this is definitely for you. Located in downtown Brockville is the O’Mally Kourt Fudgery where they make homemade fudge, ice cream, and candy! There’s also coffee and other treats to try while you’re there.
4. Geneva Crepe Cafe and Bistro
Want a crepe that looks AND tastes good? Geneva Crepe Cafe and Bistro is a European-style Bistro specializing in French crepes (savory & sweet), Belgian waffles, amazing choices of espresso and specialty coffees as well as hot chocolates made with real Belgium dark chocolate.
5. Eat Lover
Doughnuts! Now that I have your attention, Kingston’s vegan junk food joint, Eat Lover serves up all deliciousness in a small batch bakery. Fresh, soft, and chewy doughnuts are the star of the show! Be sure to check them out at the Memorial Centre Farmers Market or the Wellington Farmers Market in Prince Edward County. Get there early though as they sell out FAST!
6. Ellena’s Cafe
Want that authentic cozy cafe experience? Ellena’s Cafe is a wonderful cafe with a friendly atmosphere and the best cupcakes. You can visit them in Napanee for daily lunch specials along with hearty soups, fresh sandwiches, delicious desserts, coffee and tea.
7. Slickers County Ice Cream
Think we’d leave out somewhere to get ice cream? Located in beautiful Prince Edward County, Slickers County Ice Cream is handmade daily in small batches, featuring fresh and local ingredients. Dropping by on those hot summer days is easy, with two locations in Prince Edward County.
8. Cottage Coffee House
Did you know the most recognizable smell in the world is coffee? At Cottage Coffee House you can get some great freshly baked goods, sandwiches made fresh to order, local maple syrup, homemade waffle cones, homemade soft serve ice cream, fresh roasted almonds, and of course, their own blend of coffee locally roasted.
9. Panaché Bakery & Café
For our lovers of delicious, healthy treats. At Panaché Bakery & Café, you can expect outstanding service and an even greater product. They offer real food with no added preservatives or additives. Everything is made on the premises so they can answer all questions regarding ingredients.
10. Love Love Food Cafe, Bistro & Bakery
We love love, this place for so many reasons. You can even bring along your vegan bestie! When there’s a will there’s always a way for Love Love Food to transform their creations into vegan goodness.
11. Smyth’s Apple Orchard
How about some apple picking photos to upload to Instagram? Smyth’s Apple Orchard is a family-run business that had its beginning in the mid-1800’s. Smyth’s Apple Orchard has a large variety of seasonal apples and fruits. Their shop features many jams, jellies and chutneys. For the sweet tooth, they serve some amazing chocolate and caramel covered apples, apple bark, apple paddies, candied apples and dried apple snacks.
