The ‘winter blues’ are a common plight that many of us face during the colder months. We want you to make your winter a fun one, so we have gathered a list of frosty-fun activities to keep your spirits high!
Need we say more? First, enjoy the stunning winter landscape from a birds-eye-view and see the St. Lawrence and Thousand Islands from the rarest – and most beautiful – angle as you glide through the skies with a personal pilot to point out all the best sights. Choose your own adventure from castle tours, to historic views and much more. Grab the front seat, as we hear that is the spot to get the best views and to hear the pilot’s informative commentary!
There is something freeing about riding through a trail on your own ATV. Speeding over bumps and passing your pals, or following behind and enjoying the scenery as you drive through one of the many well-kept trails in Gananoque. With 37 kilometers of trail to explore, keep a keen eye out for wildlife sightings, maple sugar bushes, creeks and rock formations!
Winter wouldn’t be complete without a few trips to the new public skating rink! Grab a loved one, or take the whole family and start gliding over the ice-layered rink, then grab a cup of hot joe or cocoa to really get nostalgic. As a bonus, Ganaoque will be introducing a new skating rink that was the Canada 150 ice rink being from Ottawa in memory of Gord Brown! Til then, public skating is open 3:30pm – 5:00pm on Mondays for free and on Fridays for a night skate from 8:00pm – 9:30pm!
Sometimes simple is best when you are looking for something to do. We know its cold out there, but we promise that it is worth the chill if you hold hands with someone special while you take a walk through one of these trails!
Don’t let the cold keep you inside this winter! Grab those hiking shoes and take on a little bit of a challenge at the Maple Rock Conservation Area. Walk through the rocky forest, up and down the hilly landscape to make it to the stunning lookout point. Keep an eye out for local wildlife and make sure you pack some extra drinks and snacks and this trail is not for the faint of heart!
If you are looking for a lighter walk to take with your family or friends, check out Confederation Park in Gananoque and take it one of Canada’s largest outdoor art exhibits! Surround yourself with lights, ponds, and sculptures made by local artists! A perfect spot for a date with someone special to set the mood.
Eat, drink, game and be jolly! This list wouldn’t be complete without recommending that you and your adult pals stop in at the regionally famous Shorelines Casino! With bright lights and tons of fun games that have the potential to win big, as well as scrumptious food including ‘All-you-can-eat’ Prime Rib and Lobster Tail buffets every Saturday evening.
